The Australian health system provides public and private services that cover hospital care, medications and visits to the general practitioner (GP).

When you work in Australia, your employer is required to withhold taxes from your salary and pay them to ATO (Australian Tax Office). The percentage of taxes deducted from your salary is usually between 13% and 32.5% and depends mainly on how the tax declaration form* is filled in at the start of a new job.
Fortunately, in most cases temporary visa holders such as Working Holiday Visa and Student Visa are entitled to claim a refund for these taxes either at the end of the fiscal year (June 30th) or when leaving the country.
