### But how do you actually get there?

Have you ever thought about staying in Australia for longer than just “a couple of years of adventure”? If so, this article is for you.

If you want to study, it is important to remember that some fields offer not only work, but also open pathways to visas that may lead to permanent residency (PR).

Below, we highlight some fields that can open doors for your next steps.

Carpentry or cabinet making
If you enjoy building, making things and working with tools, these fields are made for you.
Course: Certificate III in Carpentry or Cabinet Making and Timber Technology
Work: On construction sites, interior projects or making custom furniture
Why choose it? There are more job opportunities in this field than people to fill them.

Painting & decorating
Do you enjoy refreshing spaces and have a good eye for detail? Then this is for you.
Course: Certificate III in Painting and Decorating
Work: Walls, ceilings and feature walls – homes, offices and shops
Why choose it? You can find work quickly and always have something to show for it – quite literally!

Motor mechanic
If you enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together (so they still work afterwards), this is an ideal choice.
Course: Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
Work: In workshops, dealerships or even your own garage
Why choose it? There will always be cars that need repairs.

🎓 Looking for something more academic? Here is a selection of university fields:

- Nursing
- Teaching
- Social work
- Construction project management
- Cyber security

These fields are often included on official skilled occupation lists and offer the opportunity to apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485), which is often the first step towards PR.
